Terms of Service
Plain rules for using wizzwallet.org and the Wizz Wallet desktop software. Because the wallet is non-custodial, these Terms also spell out what we cannot do for you — starting with recovering your keys.
Last updated: 25 October 2026
01Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service govern your use of wizzwallet.org (the “Site”) and of the Wizz Wallet software, including the desktop applications made available through it (the “Software”). By accessing the Site or installing the Software you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms.
If you do not accept them, do not use the Site or the Software. Where a separate licence or release note states something different about a specific build, that document prevails for that build.
02What Wizz Wallet is — and is not
Wizz Wallet is non-custodial, self-custody software. Private keys and recovery phrases are generated on your own device and stored there, encrypted with a password you choose. We never hold your funds, never receive your recovery phrase and cannot move, freeze, reverse or recover your assets.
No account, subscription or identity verification is required to use the wallet. Because we do not hold your keys, we also cannot act on your behalf: there is no “reset”, no “unfreeze” and no support override for a wallet we cannot access.
03Your responsibilities
Using a self-custody wallet means you personally carry the risks that a custodian would normally carry for you. You agree to keep:
- your recovery phrase and private keys safe, offline and private — written down, never stored in a cloud note, screenshot, email or chat message;
- your device secure, updated and free of remote-access or clipboard malware;
- a working backup of your wallet, and a record of the network, address type and account settings you used;
- every transaction and signature under review before you approve it — a confirmed transfer cannot be undone.
Loss caused by a missing, exposed or mistyped recovery phrase, a malicious signature or a compromised device is a loss of your own keys, not a service failure.
04Eligibility and legal compliance
You must be legally able to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction and be of the age of majority where you live. You are responsible for checking that holding, sending or receiving Bitcoin and related digital assets is lawful where you are, including tax, financial-services, anti-money-laundering and sanctions rules.
Do not use the Site or the Software in a way that breaks the law of your country, and stop using them if the law changes and no longer permits it.
05Desktop releases and availability
Desktop installers for Windows, macOS and Linux are described on this Site as not yet verified until an official release is published for your platform. Package formats, checksums, signing, notarization and system requirements are defined by the release itself, not by this Site.
Where no installer is published, do not substitute a copy found in a search result, an advertisement, a forum post or a direct message. Install only from the official website, and stop if a release cannot be checked against its published release notes.
06Fees and network costs
The Software is free to download and use. There is no subscription, no account fee and no charge for creating, importing or restoring a wallet.
Transactions pay Bitcoin network fees. Those fees are set by the network and by the fee rate you select; they are not charged, collected or kept by us. Third-party services, such as marketplaces or minting tools, may apply their own costs.
07Third-party networks, dApps and marketplaces
The wallet can connect to dApps, marketplaces, explorers and other networks. Those are independent services we do not own, operate or vet. Their own terms, availability, security and the consequences of what you sign there are theirs and yours.
Read every signature and PSBT in full before approving it. A connection request that hides what you are signing, asks for your recovery phrase or pressures you to act quickly should be treated as hostile.
08Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Site or the Software to facilitate unlawful activity; to attempt to circumvent the wallet’s security, extract keys from another person’s device or interfere with the Site; to distribute modified copies presented as official Wizz Wallet releases; or to impersonate Wizz Wallet, its maintainers or its support.
09Intellectual property and licensing
The Site’s design, text and logo belong to or are licensed to the Wizz Wallet project. Nothing on this Site grants a trademark licence or a right to publish under the Wizz name.
The Software itself is distributed under the licence that accompanies the release you obtain. That licence — not these Terms — governs what you may copy, modify, redistribute or build from the code.
10No financial, tax or legal advice
Everything published on this Site is general information about the Software. It is not investment, financial, tax or legal advice and must not be relied on as such. Digital asset markets are volatile, and transactions on Bitcoin are final and irreversible.
11Disclaimer of warranties
The Site and the Software are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that a release will be available for your platform, that the Software will be error-free or uninterrupted, that it will be suitable for your purpose, or that any file you find is a genuine, signed Wizz Wallet build.
12Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Wizz Wallet project, its maintainers and contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss — including loss of funds, loss of access to a wallet, lost profits or damage arising from a lost or exposed recovery phrase, a malicious or mistaken signature, a third-party service, a device compromise or an unavailable release.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or for gross negligence, and mandatory consumer protections in your country remain unaffected.
13Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the Site and the Software develop. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Continued use of the Site or the Software after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
14Ending your use
You may stop using the Site and the Software at any time. If you breach these Terms, your right to use them ends automatically. Ending your use does not affect the assets you already hold: your keys and your recovery backup remain yours, and remain yours to keep safe.
15Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law applicable to the place where the project is established, and disputes are brought before the competent courts there, unless your country’s mandatory rules require otherwise. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
16Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to support@wizzwallet.org. Support will never ask for your recovery phrase, private keys or password, and will never ask you to move funds to “validate” a wallet.
